What happened

On 7 July 2026 the Commission notified a draft decision amending standardisation request M/606 (C(2025) 618), with feedback open until 3 August 2026. The draft replaces Annex I: the two horizontal deliverables on the design framework (line 1) and vulnerability handling (line 15) move from 30 August to 30 October 2026, the 26 vertical standards (lines 16 to 41) move from 30 October to 31 December 2026 and the product-property standards (lines 2 to 14) stay at 30 October 2027. As of 16 October 2026 the decision is not adopted.

What it means for machine builders

Delivery by the standards bodies is not citation in the Official Journal. Only citation gives presumption of conformity under Article 27. With these dates, no harmonised standard can realistically be cited before 2027. Plan your 2027 products on a direct assessment against the Annex I essential requirements and treat any harmonised standard as a later simplification. Watch the Commission's standardisation page for the adopted decision; the dates above are proposals.
